3-month vs 12-month IPTV subscription: which is better value?

Choosing between a 3-month and a 12-month IPTV subscription comes down to two things: how much you pay per month and how sure you are that IPTV suits your household. This guide does the maths and explains who each plan length is really for.

The short answer

If you already know IPTV works well on your TV and broadband, a 12-month IPTV subscription is the better value by a wide margin. If you are new to IPTV, are not sure your devices or connection are up to it, or only need it for a few months, the 3-month plan is the safer first step even though it costs more per month.

The content is identical either way. Every plan on our IPTV subscription page includes the same live channels, films and series, TV guide (EPG), catch-up on supported channels and the same English-speaking support on WhatsApp. You are only choosing how long the plan runs and how many screens can play at once.

Cost per month: the numbers

Here are our three plans side by side. The crossed-out prices are the standard prices before the current offer.

PlanLengthScreensPriceWorks out at
Essential3 months1£29 £39≈ £9.67 / month
Premium12 months1£49 £75≈ £4.08 / month
Supreme12 months2£79 £158≈ £3.29 / screen / month

The comparison that matters for most single-TV households is Essential against Premium. Buying Essential four times in a row to cover a year would cost £116. Premium covers the same year for £49, so the 12-month plan saves £67 over twelve months, or more than half the cost.

Put another way, Premium costs only £20 more than a single Essential plan but runs four times as long. Once you are past the first three months, every extra month on Premium is effectively very cheap.

The break-even point is easy to work out. Two Essential plans in a row cost £58 for six months, which is already more than a full year on Premium. Even if you only end up watching for half the year, the 12-month plan would still have cost you less. The only scenario where Essential is cheaper overall is if you genuinely stop after three months, or a single season, and never renew.

It is also worth thinking about your time. A 3-month plan means four renewals a year: four messages to support, four payments and four dates to remember. A 12-month IPTV subscription is one decision and one payment, and you can forget about it until next year. For a busy household, that convenience is part of the value, not just the lower price.

Rule of thumb: if you expect to keep watching for more than about five months, the 12-month IPTV subscription already costs less than paying for 3 months twice.

When a 3-month plan makes sense

A shorter plan is not a bad deal; it is a different kind of purchase. You are paying a bit more per month for flexibility and a lower upfront cost. Essential is the right pick when:

  • You are trying IPTV for the first time. Three months is long enough to test evening streaming, weekends and different apps without committing for a year.
  • You are unsure about your broadband. HD needs about 10 Mbps per screen, Full HD about 20 Mbps and 4K about 30 Mbps. If your line is borderline, a short plan lets you check real-world performance first.
  • You only need it for a season or a stay. A temporary flat, a student term or a few months somewhere new.
  • Your budget is tight this month. £29 upfront is easier than £49, even if the long-run cost is higher.

If you are still choosing hardware, read our comparison of the best device for IPTV in the UK before you buy. A good device makes the trial period far more representative.

When a 12-month plan makes sense

The 12-month options, Premium and Supreme, are built for people who already know IPTV fits how they watch TV. Choose 12 months when:

  • You have used IPTV before and know your TV, Firestick or box runs IPTV Smarters Pro smoothly.
  • Your connection is comfortably fast for the quality you want on every screen.
  • You want the lowest monthly cost. At around £4.08 a month on one screen, Premium is the cheapest way to keep a single TV running all year.
  • You do not want to think about renewals every few weeks.

If two people watch at the same time in different rooms, the comparison changes slightly. Supreme gives two simultaneous screens for £79 a year, roughly £3.29 per screen per month. That is cheaper per screen than Premium. Our guide to multi-screen IPTV subscriptions explains exactly how screens and connections are counted.

What to check before you commit to 12 months

A year is a sensible commitment once a few basics are in place. Work through this list first:

  1. Test your device. Install IPTV Smarters Pro or another compatible player and make sure it opens and runs smoothly. Older Smart TVs are the most common weak point.
  2. Measure your speed at peak time. Run a speed test around 8–9 pm on the device you will watch on, not on your phone next to the router. See the internet speed guide for what each quality level needs.
  3. Count simultaneous viewers. Two people watching at once need two screens. Installing the app on extra devices is fine; only playback at the same moment counts.
  4. Prefer a wired or strong Wi-Fi link. An Ethernet cable or a 5 GHz connection makes a bigger difference to stability than most settings.
  5. Know how you will set it up. Our step-by-step Firestick installation guide and other device guides cover the login process in detail.

If all five boxes are ticked, the 12-month plan is almost certainly the better value for you. If one or two are uncertain, start with Essential and upgrade at renewal.

Renewing and switching plans

Plans do not renew automatically, and there is no contract or direct debit. When your plan is close to its end date, message our support team on WhatsApp, tell us which plan you want next and keep your current login details to hand. We aim to reply within 15 minutes. Renewing before the end date avoids any gap in service.

Moving from Essential to Premium or Supreme at renewal is the most common path, and it is straightforward: your app set-up usually stays the same. New orders work the same way: your login is usually sent within minutes of payment being confirmed, by email or WhatsApp.

Whichever plan length you pick, a TV Licence is required in the UK to watch or record live TV as it is broadcast. You are responsible for making sure your viewing complies with UK law and the terms of the relevant rights holders.

3-month vs 12-month IPTV subscription FAQ

Is a 12-month IPTV subscription better value than a 3-month one?

On cost per month, yes. Our 3-month Essential plan is £29 (about £9.67 a month), while the 12-month Premium plan is £49 (about £4.08 a month) for the same single screen and the same content.

Do the 3-month and 12-month plans include the same channels?

Yes. Every IPTV subscription includes the same live channels, films and series, TV guide, catch-up where supported and support. Plans differ only in length and in how many screens can play at the same time.

Can I start with 3 months and move to 12 months later?

Yes. Many customers try the Essential plan first and then choose Premium or Supreme when it is time to renew. Message our WhatsApp support before your plan ends and tell us which plan you want next.

What happens when my IPTV subscription ends?

Your login stops working at the end of the plan. If you renew before then, there is no gap. Keep your current login details to hand so support can find your account quickly.

Is there a contract with a 12-month IPTV subscription?

No. You pay once for the plan length you choose. There is no monthly direct debit and no fixed-term contract to cancel.

Which plan should I choose for two TVs?

If two TVs or devices need to play at the same time, choose Supreme: £79 for 12 months with two screens, which works out at roughly £3.29 per screen per month.
