IPTV UK guide
IPTV UK made simple: subscription, service and set-up in one place
An IPTV UK subscription streams live TV, films and series over your broadband instead of a satellite dish or cable box. With Smarters8K you choose an IPTV subscription, we activate your login, and you watch through IPTV Smarters Pro or another compatible player on the devices you already own. Everything below explains how our IPTV service works before you pay a penny.
IPTV subscription plans at a glance
Every IPTV subscription includes the same channel line-up, VOD library, TV guide (EPG) and support. The only differences are how long the plan runs and how many screens can watch at the same time.
| Plan | Length | Screens | Price | Works out at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | 3 months | 1 | £29 | ≈ £9.67 per month |
| Premium | 12 months | 1 | £49 | ≈ £4.08 per month |
| Supreme | 12 months | 2 | £79 | ≈ £3.29 per screen per month |
Prices in pounds sterling. Full details, what is included and how to order are on the IPTV subscription page.
How our IPTV service works, from order to first channel
- Choose a plan. Pick the IPTV subscription that matches how long you want and how many screens you need, then order through WhatsApp.
- Receive your login. Once payment is confirmed we send your Xtream Codes details (username, password and server URL) or an M3U link, usually within minutes.
- Install IPTV Smarters Pro. Download the app on your Smart TV, Firestick, phone, tablet or computer. Our installation guides cover each device.
- Log in and watch. Add your details, wait for channels, films and series to load, then test one live channel and one film.
- Ask us anything. If a step does not work, message our English-speaking support team on WhatsApp and we will check your set-up with you.

IPTV Smarters Pro is the player most of our UK customers use, but your IPTV UK login also works in compatible apps such as TiviMate, Smart IPTV and VLC. Choose your device for step-by-step instructions:
- Samsung, LG & Android Smart TV
- Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Android phone, box & Android TV
- iPhone, iPad & Apple TV
- Windows PC & Mac
Why UK households switch to an IPTV subscription
One login, several rooms
Watch on the living-room TV, a bedroom Firestick or a phone. Multi-screen plans let two screens play at once.
No dish, no box, no engineer
All you need is a broadband connection. IPTV runs over the internet, so there is nothing to install on the wall or roof.
Live TV, VOD and catch-up together
Live channels, a film and series library and up to 7 days of catch-up sit in one app with a full TV guide.
Clear prices in pounds
You pay for the plan length you choose. Our refund policy and terms are published before you order.
What an IPTV UK subscription includes
Every IPTV UK subscription from Smarters8K gives you one login that unlocks the whole service: live UK and international channels grouped by category, a library of films and series with resume playback, and an electronic programme guide that shows what is on now and next. Channels that support it offer catch-up for up to 7 days, and streams play in HD, Full HD or 4K where available, depending on your broadband. Your login usually arrives within minutes of payment by email or WhatsApp, works in IPTV Smarters Pro and other compatible players, and comes with English-speaking WhatsApp support that aims to reply within 15 minutes. You choose only the length and the number of screens; the content is the same on every plan.

Switching from a dish or cable box: a practical guide for UK homes
Moving to internet TV changes a few habits, and knowing them in advance makes the first week far smoother. This guide comes from the questions our support team answers most often when households in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland make the switch.
What actually changes in your living room
There is no dish on the wall and no box under the television. Channels arrive over your broadband and play in an app, so the remote you use is the one that controls your TV, Fire TV Stick or streaming box. The channel list is grouped by category rather than by a fixed number, which means you will use favourites and search more than a numeric keypad. The programme guide still shows what is on now and next, and on channels that support it you can go back up to seven days and start a programme from the beginning.
Two things stay the same. You still need a TV Licence to watch or record live television as it is broadcast, and you are still responsible for making sure what you watch complies with UK law and the terms of the people who own the rights.
Plan your home room by room
Before choosing a plan, walk through the house and list where people actually watch at the same time. The app can be installed on as many devices as you like; what counts is how many play together.
| Household | Typical set-up | Plan that fits |
|---|---|---|
| Single viewer or couple | One main TV, phone or tablet as a back-up | Premium, 12 months, 1 screen |
| Trying it for the first time | One TV for a season | Essential, 3 months, 1 screen |
| Family or flat share | Living room plus a bedroom or kitchen screen in use at once | Supreme, 12 months, 2 screens |
More examples, including how screens are counted when someone watches on a phone, are in our guide to multi-screen subscriptions and the whole-home set-up guide.
Getting the best picture on UK broadband
Picture quality depends less on the headline speed of your package and more on how steady the connection is at the TV itself. A few points make the biggest difference:
- Full fibre or fibre to the cabinet. Both work well. On copper-based lines, speeds drop in the evening when the whole street is online, so test at around 8pm rather than in the morning.
- Cable beats wireless. An Ethernet lead from the router to the TV or box removes most stutter. If a cable is not practical, powerline adapters or a mesh system are good alternatives.
- Use the 5 GHz band. It is faster and less crowded than 2.4 GHz, though it reaches less far through thick walls.
- Match quality to the line. Allow roughly 10 Mbps for HD, 20 Mbps for Full HD and 30 Mbps for 4K on each screen watching at once.
- Restart before you troubleshoot. Switching the router and the TV off for a minute clears many short-lived problems.

Using the guide, catch-up and the film library day to day
Most people settle into the same routine within a few days. Mark the channels you watch most as favourites so they appear at the top. Use the programme guide to scroll ahead through the evening and set reminders. When you miss something, open catch-up on that channel, pick the day and start the programme from the beginning. Films and box sets sit in their own sections with posters and descriptions, and the app remembers where you stopped.
If the guide ever shows the wrong times, usually just after the clocks change in March or October, adjust the time-shift in the app’s settings. Our guide to fixing the TV guide covers the other causes.
Watching away from home
Because everything travels over the internet, you can watch on a phone, tablet or laptop on holiday or at a second home, as long as the connection is good enough. Hotel and campsite Wi-Fi is often slow or shared, so lower the quality to HD if playback stutters. Your plan’s screen limit still applies wherever you are, and some channels may be restricted outside the UK.
Keeping your account safe
- Treat your login like a password. Sharing it outside your household can use up your screens and stop playback at home.
- Only install apps from official stores or the developer’s own website.
- If you think someone else is using your details, message our support team and we will help you secure the account.
- Set a parental-control PIN before children use the app; our parental controls guide shows how.
Jargon buster: the terms you will see
- EPG (electronic programme guide)
- The on-screen TV guide showing what is on now and next for each channel. It loads automatically with an Xtream Codes login.
- Catch-up
- Lets you replay a programme that has already been shown, on channels that support it, usually going back up to seven days.
- VOD (video on demand)
- The library of films and series you can start whenever you like, separate from live channels.
- Xtream Codes
- A login made of a username, a password and a server address. It is the recommended way to sign in because it keeps channels, films, series and the guide organised.
- M3U playlist
- A single web link that contains the channel list. Useful for players that do not support Xtream Codes, such as VLC on a computer.
- Screen (connection)
- One device playing at a time. A one-screen plan allows one stream at once; a two-screen plan allows two.
- Buffering
- The pause you see when video arrives more slowly than it plays. It is usually caused by Wi-Fi congestion or a slow line rather than the TV.
- Stream format (TS or HLS)
- Two ways the video can be delivered. If a channel will not start, switching between them in the app settings often fixes it.
- Time-shift
- A setting that moves the programme guide forwards or backwards by an hour or more so it matches UK time.
- FTTC and FTTP
- Fibre to the cabinet (part fibre, part copper) and fibre to the premises (full fibre). Full fibre is usually steadier in the evening.
- Mesh Wi-Fi
- Several small routers working together to spread a strong wireless signal around a larger home.
- Powerline adapter
- A pair of plugs that carry the internet through your electrical wiring, a handy alternative to running a long cable.
- Sideloading
- Installing an app from outside the device’s official store, for example with the Downloader app on a Fire TV Stick. Only do this with official links from the app’s developer.
- 4K / UHD
- Ultra High Definition, four times the detail of Full HD. It needs a 4K screen, a 4K-capable device and around 30 Mbps for each screen.
Still unsure about a term or a setting? Our plain-English explainer and the Xtream Codes vs M3U comparison go into more detail, and our support team is happy to talk you through anything on WhatsApp before you order.

- Choose the Xtream Codes login option and copy the details exactly, including the server port.
- Wait for channels, films and the programme guide to finish loading before you start browsing.
- Play one live channel and one film, then add your favourites.
- Set up the second screen if your plan includes one, and save your login somewhere safe.
