Everything you need to use IPTV Smarters Pro in the UK: what the app does, where to download it on each device, how to log in with Xtream Codes or M3U, the settings worth changing and how to fix the errors our support team sees most often.
IPTV Smarters Pro is a free IPTV player app. It does not sell or include channels. Instead, it plays the live TV, films and series that come with an IPTV subscription. You add the login your provider gives you, and the app organises everything into Live TV, Movies, Series and Catch-up, with a TV guide on top.
That split matters. The app decides how things look and how easy they are to use. Your IPTV service decides what you can watch, the picture quality and how stable the streams are. When something goes wrong, knowing which side is responsible saves a lot of time.
In short: IPTV Smarters Pro = the player. Your IPTV UK subscription = the channels. You need both.
New to streaming TV altogether? Start with our plain-English guide to what IPTV is, then come back here for the app itself. The IPTV UK home page also shows how the plans, the service and the player fit together, so you know which part handles what before you install anything.
The app is available on most platforms, but its name and store listing change from one device to another, and availability can vary by region and model. Here is where UK customers usually find it:
| Device | Where to get it | Full guide |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV Stick | Amazon Appstore, or the Downloader app with the developer’s official link | Firestick guide |
| Android phone, box & Android TV | Google Play (search “IPTV Smarters” or “Smarters Player Lite”) | Android guide |
| Samsung Smart TV | Smart Hub → Apps → search “IPTV Smarters” (model dependent) | Smart TV guide |
| LG Smart TV | LG Content Store → search “IPTV Smarters” (model dependent) | Smart TV guide |
| iPhone, iPad & Apple TV | App Store: “Smarters Player Lite” | iOS guide |
| Windows PC & Mac | Desktop version from the IPTV Smarters official website | PC / Mac guide |
If your TV does not list the app, the simplest fix is a Fire TV Stick plugged into a spare HDMI port. Only install apps from official stores or the developer’s own website, never from random links.
When your IPTV subscription is activated you receive one of two login types. IPTV Smarters Pro accepts both, but they behave differently.
The server URL normally looks like http://server-address:8080. Copy it exactly as sent: no
trailing slash, no spaces, and keep the port number. Our
5-minute activation guide walks through the same
steps with a checklist.
Not sure which login type to use? Our comparison of Xtream Codes vs an M3U playlist explains the difference in plain terms. If you are setting up on a television, the complete Smart TV installation guide covers Samsung, LG and Android TV, and Apple users can follow the Smarters Player Lite guide for Apple TV, iPhone and iPad.
Channels grouped by category, with the current and next programme from the TV guide.
The VOD library, sorted by category, with posters, descriptions and resume playback.
Replay programmes from the last few days on channels that support it.
A full programme grid loaded from your provider, with time-shift for correct UK times.
Watch up to four channels at once on a single device (each stream counts as a connection).
Lock categories with a PIN so children only see what you allow.
The first time you log in, the home screen can look busy. It follows the same layout on almost every device, so once you learn it on the TV you will find your way around on a phone or laptop too.
Layouts change slightly between app versions and devices, so if a button is not exactly where described, look for the three-dot menu or the settings cog, which hold most options.
With hundreds of entries in a typical line-up, scrolling with a TV remote soon gets tiring. Two features save a lot of time:
Favourites are stored on the device, so if you reinstall the app or log in on a new TV you may need to add them again. Keeping a short list of your top ten channels makes this a two-minute job.
The app can hold more than one login. On the user list screen you will see every account you have added, each with the name you typed when you logged in. That is useful when:
Remember that profiles in the app do not add screens. However many users you save, your plan still decides how many streams can play at the same time. To keep children away from certain categories, use the parental control PIN in settings rather than a separate profile.
With an Xtream Codes login, the TV guide loads automatically and refreshes in the background. Open the TV Guide tile for a grid view, or check the current and next programme in the live channel list. Channels that support catch-up show a small replay or clock icon; open the Catch-up section, pick the channel and choose a programme from the previous days. Our service keeps catch-up for up to 7 days on supported channels.
Multi-screen lets you watch several channels at once on one device, but each tile is a separate stream and counts towards your plan’s screen limit. Our guide to multi-screen, catch-up and recording in the app explains each feature in detail, including what to check if the replay icon is missing.
The defaults work for most people, but a few settings fix the most common annoyances:
Picture quality depends mostly on your connection. Use the internet speed guide to check what HD, Full HD and 4K need.
For a setting-by-setting walkthrough, read our best Smarters settings for UK viewers. If you want Ultra HD, the guide to 4K IPTV in the UK explains which devices and connections can handle it: plan on 30 Mbps per screen as a minimum and 40 Mbps or more to be comfortable.
The built-in player handles most channels, but some devices play certain streams better in another player. The app lets you add an external player, such as VLC or MX Player, and choose it for live TV, films or series separately.
External players are a good test when a channel refuses to start: if it plays in VLC but not in the built-in player, the problem is a player setting rather than your login or your connection.
| What you see | Usual cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Invalid username or password” / “Authorisation failed” | Typo, extra space, wrong capital letter or expired plan | Re-type by hand, check capitals, confirm your IPTV subscription dates |
| “Unable to connect” / network error | Server URL missing http:// or the port | Enter the URL exactly as sent, restart the router |
| Channels load but will not play | Player or stream format clash | Switch stream format (TS/HLS) or player, clear the app cache |
| Buffering at busy times | Wi-Fi congestion or 4K on a slow line | Use Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, drop to FHD/HD |
| Empty or wrong TV guide | EPG not refreshed or time-shift wrong | Refresh EPG, adjust time-shift |
| Playback stops on another device | More screens in use than your plan allows | Close the stream elsewhere or choose a two-screen plan |

Keeping the app up to date fixes bugs and keeps it compatible with your device’s software. Updates arrive through the store you installed from, so turn on automatic updates there or check now and then. A reinstall is the next step when the app keeps crashing, shows a blank screen or freezes while loading channels:
Because the app is popular, copies and modified versions circulate online. Some are harmless, but others may contain adverts, tracking or unwanted software. A few simple rules keep your devices safe:
The app is legal software; what matters is what you watch with it. Our guide on whether IPTV is legal in the UK explains what viewers need to know, and a TV Licence is required to watch or record live TV as it is broadcast.
Your IPTV UK login is not tied to one app. These are the players our customers use most, and where each one shines:
| Player | Devices | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Android, Firestick, iOS/Apple TV, Windows, Mac, some Smart TVs | Free | Simple set-up on almost any device |
| TiviMate | Android TV, Firestick | Free, paid Premium | A cable-TV style guide and recordings |
| Smart IPTV | Samsung and LG TVs | One-off activation fee | TVs without IPTV Smarters in their store |
| VLC | Windows, Mac, Linux, mobile | Free | Quick M3U playback on a computer |
For a detailed head-to-head, including the guide layout, recording and price, read TiviMate vs Smarters: which player is better?
Yes. The IPTV Smarters Pro app is free to download, but it does not include any channels. It is a player: you need an IPTV subscription from a provider, which gives you the Xtream Codes login or M3U link to add to the app.
The app itself is legal software, in the same way a media player is. What matters is the content you watch through it. You are responsible for making sure your viewing complies with UK law and the terms of the relevant rights holders.
Smarters Player Lite is the name the app uses on Apple’s App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. It does the same job: you log in with Xtream Codes or an M3U playlist and watch live TV, films and series.
Use Xtream Codes API whenever you have it. It loads live TV, films, series and the TV guide as separate sections and refreshes them automatically. M3U is a fallback for apps or devices that only accept playlists.
The details are usually typed with an extra space, a wrong capital letter or a missing port in the server URL. Re-type them by hand, check the URL starts with http:// and includes the port, and confirm your IPTV subscription is still active.
Yes. You can install the app on as many devices as you like, but your IPTV subscription decides how many can play at the same time. A one-screen plan plays on one device at once; a two-screen plan plays on two.
Yes. With Xtream Codes the app loads the EPG (electronic programme guide) automatically, and channels that support catch-up show a replay icon so you can watch programmes from the last few days.
They suit different people. IPTV Smarters Pro is free, simple and available on almost every device. TiviMate is Android-only, has a more TV-like guide and needs a paid upgrade for its best features. Both work with the same IPTV subscription.
Highlight a channel, film or series and long-press OK on the remote (or tap and hold on a phone), then choose Add to favourites. Your favourites appear in their own category at the top of each section.
Yes. The user list screen lets you save several logins, each with its own name, and switch between them. This is handy if you have a separate login for a second home or want to keep a test profile.
Updates come through your device’s app store. To reinstall, uninstall the app, restart the device, install it again from the official store and log in with the details from your activation message.
Download it only from an official app store or the developer’s own website. Avoid modified versions and links shared on social media, which can contain unwanted software or ask for personal details.
Choose an IPTV subscription, receive your Xtream Codes login and follow the guide for your device. If anything does not work, our support team will check your set-up with you.
