Troubleshooting

IPTV Smarters Pro not working? 12 fixes that actually work

When IPTV Smarters Pro is not working, the cause is nearly always one of a dozen things: a mistyped login, a missing port, a clash between player and stream format, a slow connection or an out-of-date app. These are the 12 fixes our support team works through, in the order that solves problems fastest.

This guide is specific to the IPTV Smarters Pro app. For stutter and spinning wheels in any player, see how to stop IPTV buffering; to decode a specific login or playlist message, see Xtream and M3U error messages explained.

Wall-mounted television switched off in a quiet living room

First: is it the app, the device or the IPTV service?

IPTV Smarters Pro is a free player with no channels of its own; the streams come from your IPTV service. Thirty seconds of testing tells you where to look:

What you noticeMost likely causeGo to
Login screen rejects your detailsTypo, wrong URL or expired planFixes 1–4
Channels list fine but will not playPlayer or stream formatFixes 6–7
Plays, then buffers or freezesConnection or too many screensFixes 5 and 8

App closes, freezes or will not openCache or outdated appFixes 11–12

Before anything else, turn the device and the router off at the wall for 30 seconds and back on. It sounds obvious, but it clears a surprising number of problems.

Login and connection errors (fixes 1–4)

1. Re-type the username and password by hand

"Invalid username or password" or "Authorisation failed" almost always means the details do not match exactly. Copy-pasting from an email often adds a hidden space at the end. Delete the user, add it again and type each field by hand. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive, so check capitals and the difference between a zero and the letter O.

2. Check the server URL and port

In Login with Xtream Codes API, the URL must include http:// and the port, for example http://server-address:8080, with no trailing slash. "Unable to connect" or a network error usually points here. Do not add www. or swap http for https unless your activation message says so.

3. Confirm your IPTV subscription is active

If the app suddenly logs you out or the details stop working on every device, check the end date of your IPTV subscription. Expired plans return the same login error as a typo.

4. Try the other login type

If Xtream Codes still fails, add your M3U link through Load Your Playlist or File/URL. If the playlist works, the issue is in how the Xtream Codes details were entered. Our Xtream Codes vs M3U guide explains the difference.

Buffering and playback problems (fixes 5–8)

5. Check your connection speed

Each screen needs roughly 10 Mbps for HD, 20 Mbps for Full HD and 30 Mbps for 4K. Run a speed test on the device itself, not your phone, because a TV at the far end of the house can get a fraction of the speed. Use an Ethernet cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi where possible, and drop from 4K to Full HD if buffering happens at busy evening times.

6. Switch the stream format

In Settings → Stream Format, switch between MPEGTS and HLS, then retest the same channel. A black screen with sound, or a channel that loads forever, is often cured by this one change.

7. Change the player

Under Player Selection, try the native player or an external player such as VLC for the content type that fails. Our IPTV Smarters Pro settings guide explains each option and when to use it.

8. Check how many screens are playing

If a stream stops when someone else starts watching, you have hit your screen limit. Essential and Premium allow one screen at a time; Supreme allows two. Multi-screen mode inside the app also counts each window as a screen.

Empty or wrong TV guide (fixes 9–10)

9. Refresh the EPG

If the TV guide is blank, reload it from the home screen, and in Settings → Automation turn on automatic EPG updates. With an M3U login the guide may need a separate EPG link, which is another reason to use Xtream Codes.

10. Correct the EPG time-shift

If every programme is an hour early or late, first check the device’s time zone is set to the UK, then adjust EPG Time Shift by one hour. This often happens when the clocks change in March and October.

IPTV Smarters Pro crashes and frozen apps (fixes 11–12)

11. Clear the cache

  1. Firestick: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → IPTV Smarters Pro → Clear cache.
  2. Android TV and phones: Settings → Apps → IPTV Smarters Pro → Storage → Clear cache.
  3. iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: there is no cache button; delete and reinstall Smarters Player Lite instead (fix 12).
  4. Reopen the app and test one channel and one film.

Only use Clear data or Clear storage if clearing the cache does not help, because it removes your users and settings.

12. Update or reinstall the app

Old versions can stop working after server or device updates. Update from the official store, or uninstall and reinstall it, then log in again. Only download from official app stores or the developer’s own website; copies from unknown links can be outdated or unsafe. The Firestick installation guide and the Android guide cover a clean install step by step.

When to contact support

If you have worked through all 12 fixes and IPTV Smarters Pro is still not working, message our team on WhatsApp. We reply in English and aim to answer within 15 minutes. To speed things up, send:

  • A photo or screenshot of the exact error message.
  • The device and app you are using (for example "Firestick, IPTV Smarters Pro").
  • Whether it affects one channel, a category or everything.
  • The result of a speed test on that device.

For background on the app itself, the IPTV Smarters Pro guide for UK viewers covers download, login and features, and our older Xtream and M3U error guide lists less common messages.

IPTV Smarters Pro not working: FAQ

Why is IPTV Smarters Pro not working today when it worked yesterday?

Start with the simple things: restart the device and router, check the internet connection and confirm your IPTV subscription has not expired. If several channels fail at once, contact your provider, as the issue may be on the server side.

What does “Invalid username or password” mean?

The app reached a server but the details were not accepted. It is usually a typo, an extra space, a wrong capital letter or an expired plan. Re-type the details by hand from your activation message.

Why does IPTV Smarters Pro keep buffering?

Usually because the connection cannot keep up with the stream. Each screen needs about 10 Mbps for HD, 20 Mbps for Full HD and 30 Mbps for 4K. Use Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, or try a lower-quality version of the channel.

How do I clear the IPTV Smarters Pro cache?

On Android TV and Firestick go to the device Settings, then Applications, Manage Installed Applications, IPTV Smarters Pro and choose Clear cache. Avoid Clear data unless you are ready to log in again.

Why does playback stop when someone else is watching?

Your plan allows a set number of screens at once. If more devices play than your plan allows, one stream stops. Close the app on the other device or choose a two-screen plan.

Should I reinstall IPTV Smarters Pro?

Only after the other fixes. Reinstalling removes your users and settings, so keep your login details to hand. It helps when the app crashes on launch or stays stuck after an update.

Is the problem the app or the IPTV service?

If one channel fails but others work, it is usually the stream. If nothing loads on any device, check your internet and subscription. If it works on your phone but not the TV, the problem is the TV app or its connection.
